About Me
A little about me—my name is Grace, and I grew up just outside of Ottawa with two older sisters and incredibly supportive parents.
My childhood wasn’t always easy. Early on, I learned that I had learning disabilities, which made school challenging and sometimes discouraging. But I’ve always been a fighter. With early support and the right tools, I learned how to navigate those challenges and advocate for myself.
Art became my safe haven. It’s the place where I can breathe, relax, and create without rules or pressure. I often start with a blank canvas and let instinct guide me, painting whatever comes to mind.
I’m also aware of the things I continue to work on. I can be a perfectionist, sometimes procrastinate, and tend to be overly self-critical. A bit of ADD means my focus can drift, especially when I’m juggling too many ideas. But I’m constantly improving, turning these challenges into strengths.
As for my personality—I’m awkward, anxious, goofy, kind, and deeply empathetic. And I’m learning to embrace all of it.
How Did I End Up Here
I initially began my post-secondary education in Environmental Studies, but I quickly realized that science and academic writing weren’t the right fit for me. Having taken art and painting classes since childhood, I’ve always had a strong passion for the creative arts. That passion ultimately led me to pursue a path in graphic design, where I hope to grow professionally and build a fulfilling career.
My work is inspired by nature, animals, and classical art, and I often blend organic shapes with clean, modern design principles. I gravitate toward warm, natural colour palettes, hand-drawn details, and layouts that feel both structured and artistic. Illustration plays a big role in my process, and I enjoy creating designs with character, softness, and a sense of story.
I’m personable, creative, detail-oriented, and adaptable, with strong skills in illustration and problem-solving. I love exploring thoughtful visual solutions and crafting designs that feel intentional and uniquely expressive.
