Beer Label
Beer Can Design Concept
This project features original beer can designs created to symbolize Ottawa through locally inspired imagery, colours, and themes. Each can visually represents elements seen around the city, translating Ottawa’s character and environment into a cohesive, illustrated packaging series.
Process & Tools
The illustrations and concepts were initially explored in Procreate, where multiple variations were developed and refined. Selected concepts were then brought into Illustrator to create polished labels tailored to a 473 ml can template. Finally, the finished labels were placed into Photoshop to produce realistic can mockups and prototypes.
Millstone Maze
Ottawa is surrounded by a rich variety of landscapes. This can design celebrates the villages and outskirts of the city, where golden cornfields stretch across the countryside. Featured prominently is one of the region’s rural treasures — the historic Watson’s Mill in Manotick. The artwork pays tribute to the small communities and scenic farmlands that shape the character and charm of Ottawa’s rural core.
Screaming Groundhog
This design features a spirited groundhog letting out a playful scream on Carleton University’s campus. Groundhogs are a beloved sight around the university and have affectionately earned the nickname “Chonkers.” Their popularity has even made them the unofficial secondary mascot of Carleton. In the background, you’ll spot some of the campus’s most recognizable landmarks, including the iconic Dunton Tower. Ravens soar across the sky, paying homage to Carleton’s official mascot, the Raven. In the foreground, a flowing waterway represents the nearby Rideau Canal, tying the campus and its surroundings into one lively scene.
